Manaus is considered one of the most strategic cities in Brazil, due to its proximity to the wealth of the Amazon Forest. Manaus has direct flights to Miami and Atlanta.

The city also has international features, many of them built during the rubber cycle, in the early 1900s. The Teatro Amazonas is a benchmark in terms of beauty and excellence.

Stadium: Arena Amazonia, which will host only 4 matches, all in the Groups stage. Brazil will not play in Manaus, but it is certain that at least one seed team will.

The stadium is known by the locals as Vivaldao, and should be one of the most environment friendly in the World.

Five star hotel: Tropical Hotel Manaus.

Many tourists who want to stay in closer contact with the Nature prefer the jungle houses, which are five star hotels built in the middle of the Amazon jungle.

See the map of Manaus shown to the right to see the location of some of the most famous Jungle Hotels.

Recommended restaurant: Banzeiro; specialized in regional food, which includes several dishes based on the fishes of river Amazon.

Attraction you shouldn’t miss: Meeting of Waters.

When choosing the host cities of the World Cup 2014, the Brazilian Confederation and FIFA wanted to make sure that many international tourists could realize two wishes at once: watching the World Cup and visiting the Amazon.
