Fortaleza

Strategically located right below the Equator, Fortaleza, the capital of the State of Ceara, is the shortest route from Brazil to Europe, the United States and Africa.

Stadium: Castelao.

Five Star Hotel: Gran Marquise.

Recommended restaurant: Vojnilo (fish and seafood)

Don’t miss: Beach Park.

Fortaleza will stage six matches of the World Cup 2014, including at least one match of the Brazilian Team. Fortaleza is also confirmed as a host city of the Confederations Cup 2013.

Long sun–drenched beaches of warm and green waters are perfect for bathing and sports. The city’s vibrating nightlife with a busy cultural agenda and restaurants which showcase the best in northeastern cuisine make Fortaleza a sure destination for fun.

For the World Cup 2014, the stadium Castelao will be completely renovated. The new stadium will have about 60,000 seats, which will make it one of the candidates to host important matches, such as the semi-finals.

All these advantages (good location, tropical beaches, good infrastructure) will make Fortaleza one of the most visited destinations in Brazil during the World Cup. Many tourists will use Fortaleza as a gateway into the country, or as a last stop before flying back home.
